Letterpress artist, Elizabeth Hubbell<\/a> worked for fifteen years in the garage next to her Berkeley home. \u00a0She wasn’t complaining.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

It did the job…housing her 1905 Chandler and Price letterpress and guillotine, the scrumptious paper on which she prints and the wonderful work she produced after adding the magic ingredient of her beautiful designs.<\/p>\n

But just recently, she had the opportunity to transform her workplace into something a bit more special. \u00a0With a design provided by her talented uncle-architect David Rulon<\/a>, the contractor Thomas Goetze\u00a0and the\u00a0fabulous craftsmen David Pickell and Gawain Kessner, Elizabeth’s garage transformed… from this…<\/p>\n

Into this..<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Tucked away from the road.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

It is such a treat to walk through the gate and discover this…<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>beautiful studio.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

So light…<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>And airy…<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I just want to be sitting at that desk with all that big white space around me…<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The press looks at home…<\/p>\n

And the creative work…<\/p>\n

\"Creativity<\/a><\/p>\n

Can continue…<\/p>\n

\"Beautiful<\/a><\/p>\n

The stairs were inspired by a book that Elizabeth had on compact living in Japan. \u00a0She showed it to the multi-talented David Pickell and he came up with this beautiful design…<\/p>\n

\"David<\/a><\/p>\n

Yup, just completely and utterly jealous. \u00a0Even the bathroom is heaving with style and simplicity…<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

And from the garden you can sit and enjoy…<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>This gorgeous design and custom made color…<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Did you know that if you don’t particularly like any of the many colors offered by Benjamin Moore, you can do what Elizabeth did and mix your own perfect color on some thick white paper. \u00a0Just take it down to East Bay Paints<\/a> and they will mix it up for you…<\/p>\n
